The place: Masstown Market

The Treasure: Masstown Market, Catch of the Bay lighthouse, Knot in the Bay fish and chips boat.

We went to Masstown Market’s ‘launching’ of their boat “Knot in the bay” and accompanying lighthouse.

Masstown Market is a large, locally owned, popular tourist draw about an hour outside of Truro in Masstown. I suspect that’s where they got the name. 😉

Masstown Market’s new Lighthouse (Catch of the Bay) houses their fish market where you can buy an assortment of fresh or frozen fish caught locally. Atlantic salmon, muscles, lobster, trout, char, haddock and more. They also have the seasoning and accessories to bring out the flavour of the dish.

The boat, Knot of the Bay was a fishing boat that they bought and converted in to a fish and chips kitchen.

After being paged by our lobster (you’ll have to go there and figure out what I mean) we sat down to eat. The food was great – a generous amount of fries and a piece of fish that was longer than the box it came in. Steph had fries and clams -also very good. I tried some, you know, for journalism reasons! 😉

Last thing before we wrap this one up. While eating our meal the chef, who I assume was on break, walked around and asked a few of us how our meal was before he left. Shows that he really cares.. Which is so important in a service industry and it shows pride in his work.

June 2014 UPDATE:  Many gluten free options available. 🙂
